The APCOS® 4000 central switching platform was developed to meet the latest requirements for a digital communications network. The associated control software COSYMA (Communication System Manager) provides sophisticated and comprehensive system control.
For telex and military email procedures, security is our highest priority: SAMMS® (Secure Automatic Military Messaging System) stands for user-friendly, menu-driven ACP 127 message handling.
Recognition systems such as the IFF Interrogator/Transponder System provide unambiguous results in the identification of foreign platforms.

APCOS®4000
AEROMARITIME’s proven Advanced Platform Communications System APCOS® 4000 is designed to meet today’s and tomorrow’s requirements for tactical and strategic digital communications networks. APCOS®4000 is a hybrid routing and switching communications platform suitable for virtually all military communications requirements. APCOS®4000 supports all communications network requirements, such as in our latest installation of the F125 German Frigate program:
- Tactical voice communication
- Internal voice communication
- External communications with existing and future radio systems (e.g. JTRS)
- Voice, data, control signal routing and switching
- IP routing, voice over IP

The APCOS®4000 consists of
- Network Nodes
- for switching and conferencing
- interconnected via redundant ATM network links
- connected to Terminal Adapters (TA) via unified digital interfaces
- Terminal Adapters (TA) for the Adaption of the external Terminals
- Voice & Control Terminals (VCT)
The Nodes of the system are interconnected by a dual FOC ring to guarantee a maximum of survivability in case of cable breaks or Node faults to the system.
COSYMA
COSYMA is the control centre for APCOS®4000, consisting of a comprehensive and versatile application software that includes the following components:
- Communications Network Control (CNC)
- Radio & Device Control (RDC)
- Secure Automatic Military Message Handling System (SAMMS®)
- The COSYMA subsystem includes a server and a number of workstations which provide overall system and network management, including full control of all major radio equipment, modems and ancillary equipment, as well as message handling. The Communications Network Control (CNC) component of COSYMA provides the following functions for the control of the APCOS® 4000 system:
- Administration
- Application specific configuration of the system, i.e. topology, routing Supervision
- Monitoring of operational status
- Event management
